Achieving 30x30: scaling protected areas and landscape collaborations

Hosted By: UNEP-WCMC & Proteus

This session will explore the role of the private sector in implemntation of target 3 of the Global Biodiversity Framework to protect and conserve 30% of land and sea areas by 2030. It will present case studies and lessons learned, such as from the Brazilian Private Reserves Network as a model for landscape-level collaboration between business, conservation organisations, and government actors. Participants will explore how the private sector can support collective management across private and protected lands, improving ecological connectivity, and embedding nature-positive outcomes at scale. The case studies will illustrate how companies are aligning site-level conservation with broader landscape priorities, balancing operational realities with long-term restoration and biodiversity goals.
