Evidence-driven decisions

Priority science needs for evidence-based business action on biodiversity

Hosted By: Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)

The IPBES Business and Biodiversity Assessment (to be published in February 2026) represents a two-year effort to synthesise current knowledge on how businesses and financial institutions can support transformative change. The report identifies a long list of gaps in theory, methods and evidence, which currently hinder robust, evidence-informed business action on biodiversity. This session aims to validate and prioritise the gaps that matter most for improving practice, and to identify where existing or new partnerships and pilots could help advance this work. Our goal is to ensure that the scientific community focuses on advancing the most relevant research questions and supports the delivery of knowledge directly to inform and enable action on nature sooner rather than later.
