Evidence-driven decisions
From insights to action with IUCN RHINO – new IBAT tool to assess Species Extinction Risk
Hosted By: Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT) & IUCN
The IUCN RHINO approach for Rapid High Integrity Nature-positive Outcomes provides actionable insights for organisations to understand their interface with nature and act now. Early adopters of the approach have relied on manually compiled files to calculate the Species Threat Abatement and Restoration (STAR) score of their pilot areas. In this session, pioneers of the RHINO approach will explain how this work helped them assess their species extinction risk and identify opportunities to contribute to global biodiversity goals. The session will introduce the new IBAT tool that now makes this assessment integrated and accessible to all its users. Participants will learn how to use IBAT species reports and what information they need to produce, with the new IBAT tool, a robust analysis that informs decision-making.
