Achieving a nature-positive future requires all sectors and actors to understand and address their nature-related value chain dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities. Yet, the complexity of value chain accountability still often hinders corporate action on nature. This session will draw on ICMM and UNEP-WCMC’s work to explore approaches to driving value chain action to conserve and restore nature. Using real-life examples of value chain action from the mining sector and its downstream customers, the session will explore various supplier disclosure requirements and principles for addressing value chain impacts. It will specifically examine how these approaches can differ based on an organisation’s position in the value chain across different sectors.
